Hygiene plays a crucial role in the hotel industry. This concerns in particular the reception of the guest, the overnight area, the kitchen and the restaurant as well as the swimming pool, the sauna and the spa and conference area. In order to cope with this diversity with its different hygienic facets, the HMC - Hygiene Management was developed.
The test is carried out by experienced experts according to a given checklist. Hygiene-relevant documents such as microbiological analyzes, test reports and hygiene plans viewed. In addition, the hotel areas are thoroughly inspected. The test is intended to evaluate hygiene management. No microbiological samples are taken. The check takes about 5-6 hours on site based on a previous evaluation of documents.
The hotel receives the HMC Hygiene Management Certificate if at least 80% of all criteria and the so-called "KO criteria" (criteria with very high hygiene relevance) have been met.
The certification is issued by the German company EuropeSpa med & wellness GmbH (Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt), which has over 15 years of experience in the testing and certification of hotels worldwide and whose concept has won several awards. The criteria are continuously developed in cooperation with experts in the hotel industry and the Quality in Health Prevention e.V. (Quhep) association.
The HMC seal of approval is supported by DEKRA Certification, Reiseveranstalter Medikur Reisen and Fit-Reisen
